upcoming gigs

  • Shy boy Paddy Mann launches his 3rd Grand Salvo album at the NSC on November the 1st (and his rather spartan website has an RSS feed for gigs, even!). He's also supporting the Joanna Newsom and Smog gig at the Athenaeum this Friday.

  • Looking for more info on that one led me to discover that Tugboat are launching their second album (about time!) at the Empress on November 12th.

  • the Crooked Fingers play the Corner on the 18th of October.

  • There's some sketchy details about a Saints gig on the 25th of November, and a Church acoustic gig on the 15th of December, both at the Corner - the timing isn't too surprising, given that Marty Willson-Piper is apparently a Saint now, too!

  • Gentle Ben and his Sensitive Side do the Melbourne launch of their second album The Sober Light of Day at the Tote on October 21st, with support from Rowland S. Howard and a bunch of others.

I've got a few new purchases I'll try and mention something about soon, from Gentle Ben and his Sensitive Side, The Dirty Three, The Saints, Mark Eitzel and Stephen Cummings.

Andrew, I'm desperate for a gig. What are you going to and can I come along. Ash is in India and I don't know a whole lot of bands who've been playing lately. I see Ninety Nine are playing at Pony on Saturday, though they're headlining (i.e late night. Shucks. -DFV
