the north will rise again

Tony Wilson was being treated for kidney cancer, like Lee Hazlewood. Instead, he died of a heart attack. Paul Morley has few words:

"No matter how far from Manchester, you couldn't escape his plans for a better, brighter and definitely stranger north."

yeah pretty sad. i owned the entire factory catalogue in the late seventies.

joy division were a sort of revelation for me.
