I was listening to the Spoon CD on the way home last night (at an ATM, a little girl asked "mummy, why's that man wearing big headphones ?"), and when all the pretty girls go to the city came on I thought "hey ! somebody ought to do a mix CD of songs where people go doo doo doo, ba ba ba, and so on." Without having done any actual research so far, I can think of a few other candidates - Grandview's by your side, a few Luna tracks, Stereolab's Miss Modular and even something by Jack Frost (called Birdowner (as seen on TV)). These aren't, however, definitive songs of this "category", and I wonder what songs would be considered such.

I may not (so far) run the kind of blog that posts social conscience linkage - other friends seem to have it covered better than I could manage (yes, I'm aware that's no excuse), but this doesn't mean that I don't care about the State of ThingsTM.

Jeez, this is could end up quite a vast little category.
Prince, and that little vamp and subject of my childhood crushes, Sheena Easton, with 'Lalala, hehehe', perhaps.
'Fa-fa-fa-fa-fa (sad song)' by Otis Redding.
Does Minnie Riperton count? "Dootndootn-doo-doo, ahhhhhh!" (glass breaks)
Janis Joplin/Kris Kristofferson, 'Me and Bobby McGee' - 'La, lalala, lalala, lalala...(etc.)'
*shrugs, reaching*
Kylie? "La-la-la-lalalalalahhhh", repeat ad nauseum.
I'll have think about this one overnight.

There's also Low - Canada, maybe Mr. Jones by Counting Crows too. Oh, and of course, most of R.E.M's early work has no real lyrics. Hehe.

Obviously, Bow Wow Wow's "Da Da Da" goes in.
And, if we're talking R.E.M., probably "Endgame" would be the one, though that's a bit later on.

There's Bananarama: La-la-la-la-hey-hey-goodbye.
And Natalie Merchant on Tigerlily: Hoo-ooh-woo-hoo-woo-woo.
A couple of tracks on Beaumont's *This is Beaumont* go ba-bum-ba-bum..

Not to mention a lot of obscure indie-pop bands. Especially if they play vintage electronic organs.
