bees in yer bonnet

There we were, happily lunching outside City Café (yes, again) when a swarm of bees appeared out of nowhere, racing around in circles near the Acland St / Barkly St intersection. After a while they settled on somebody's bicycle helmet, as shown in the photos above. Eventually, somebody in a large white protective suit came and "rescued" the bees (and helmet) into a plastic bag, to the applause of onlookers. What does this mean ?

Wow. That is totally amazing.

AS someone who lives quite close to that intersection (well, relatively, especially as the bee flies) I am greatly disturbed by these images. And I am also wondering who you would call in such a situation? The RSPCA? Is there an emergency bee removal line?

Most disturbing.

Yeah. I really don't know where the guy came from. Michael (http://beebo.org/) was, at the time, wondering if there's people you can call for help when weird things happen (a bit like the Harvey Keitel character in _Pulp Fiction_, he suggested). I wonder what happened to the bees afterwards. And the helmet...

When I look at those pictures, I just keep imagining the bees enveloping someone's head rather than the helmet. Yikes.
