yo la tengo - today is the day

[Yo La Tengo - Today Is The Day]

Wow. Take the mournful brain of a slow/sadcore track and rehome it in a Rock Body. Yo La Tengo have revisited the track from Summer Sun and put GT stripes on it, with a relentless guitar drone unheard since their cover of The Beach Boys' Little Honda all those years ago. Georgia's voice remains the same, down to the "ooo woo ooo ooo ooo". But back to the beautiful noise. How can something so primitive be so alluring? I don't know. I don't particularly care. On the right kind of day, I could listen to it for hours.
