I'd gone in to buy The Cook, the Thief, his Wife and her Lover a while back, but the guy couldn't find the disc, and so I left it until now, when I happened to be going past, and the shop had a "20% off sale" sign, so I ended up with :
The Cook, the Thief, his Wife and her Lover : I seem to remember this (from when I watched it, about 9 years ago) being more full of lavish excess, as opposed to the base craziness of A Zed and Two Noughts, but I'll have to watch it again to remember most of the non-shock bits of it.
Paris, Texas : You know, I've never seen a single Wim Wenders film. I figure this might be a good starting point.
Dead Man : I missed this one at the box office too, but since I've been picking up other Jarmusch films (Ghost Dog and Mystery Train so far), I figured I'd add it to the collection.
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly : You're going to all stare at me funny because I haven't seen this yet either. Aren't you ?

I may not (so far) run the kind of blog that posts social conscience linkage - other friends seem to have it covered better than I could manage (yes, I'm aware that's no excuse), but this doesn't mean that I don't care about the State of ThingsTM.

As the first DVD I ever hired, I got a few weeks ago "The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover". I would be happy if there were more films like it, I think. I love the way characters' clothes change as they move from room to room, to better match the decor. I love the singing kid, and the pot-bellied chef...
