There've been a few bands from these shores (The Church being one that immediately comes to mind) that could've almost fooled people into thinking they were from anywhere but here. The Go-Betweens could also be placed in such a category, since only a handful of their work (Cattle and Cane being the oft-quoted example) could be considered overtly Australian. And this is fine.
In any case, The Steinbecks put a more "strine" accent on their cover of Robert Forster's classic draining the pool for you, reclaiming it as a song from this end of the world.
