NATN reviews both new Frank Black and the Catholics albums (one, two). I'm not expecting much (certainly the last release didn't do much for me in the few minutes I gave it at the listening post one day), and I suspect that I'm like everybody else - as bad and clingy as it sounds, we're mostly just hoping for something that sounds as good as the Pixies did. The first two FB+C releases had some very good moments, but I'm hoping they're not going the same way his "solo career" (post-Pixies, pre-Catholics) did - starting acceptably, but losing any real momentum after the first two albums. I'm keen to give these new ones a chance, at least.

I may not (so far) run the kind of blog that posts social conscience linkage - other friends seem to have it covered better than I could manage (yes, I'm aware that's no excuse), but this doesn't mean that I don't care about the State of ThingsTM.

It's not clingy, it's true. All the tracks where he really gets going are the ones with Joey Santiago on them. I'd act as facilitator to get the Pixies back together if I had to.
