bar nothing, pigdon st, carlton

It's not so often you hear Lambchop played in a bar, though maybe it was just for the name of the track - the man who loved beer. Since I was the only one there at the time (public transport boy gets there too early, once again) I may well have been hallucinating over my lemon, lime and bitters. They also played the whole of Cibo Matto's Stereo Type A later on in the night, though it doesn't really "go" with piped reruns of black and white films like The Postman Always Rings Twice on the ring of TVs around the outer walls. High school buddy Steve seems to have adopted this as his place of choice in lieu of the Napier, over the past 9 months or so. It seems nice and airy, as if it's a miniature barn or something, with a mix of couches, tables and chairs. They're big on cocktails, which doesn't excite me, but that's ok. It's comfortable, and a bit homey (but not in the Big Yellow Shorts way).

(sorry, I forgot to take photos, despite being there for a good 5 and a half hours.)

Dear Bar Nothing,
I attended a friend's 21st a couple of years ago at Bar Nothing (I'm hoping it was the same Bar Nothing? is there only one?) and found the venue very appealing. I'm interested in booking you for an engagement party - probably sometime in January 2004 depending on your availability. But I couldn't find you in the White Pages and there is no contact number on this website. Would it be possible to email me back with a contact phone no? That would be fantastic. I really enjoyed the party I went to there - loved the relaxed atmosphere, cosy couches and old movies! not to mention the yummy cocktails...and it was great being able to provide our own food and CDs.
Thank you very much and I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Tess

Tess,
Their website is http://www.somethingwickedcocktails.com.au/barnothing.htm
and it is indeed a fantastic place for a function. The BYO CDs and finger food is a great idea, as is the challenge of drinking the entire cocktail list over a few hours!
