Trundling down William St on the tram this morning, The Jesus and Mary Chain's April Skies made a surprise appearance on the radio. I found myself starting to sing along before I realised where I was. My ever-enduring memory of those boys is the video for You Trip Me Up where they're sitting on the beach (in Scotland, one presumes), stripey t-shirts and all, with a guitar stuck in the sand. It said everything, but probably also nothing.

I may not (so far) run the kind of blog that posts social conscience linkage - other friends seem to have it covered better than I could manage (yes, I'm aware that's no excuse), but this doesn't mean that I don't care about the State of ThingsTM.

Same morning, same song. I was lying in bed, heard it and chuckled. Thought to myself, last day of the year to play that song. The song ended and the announcer said the same thing.
Memories of many years ago, one by one my sister, my mother, then my dad arrived home. One by one they asked what the noise was coming from my CD player and was there something wrong with it.

I think "You trip me up" was playing on Rage the night of Michael's housewarming party. You told us about the guitar and I was sitting there waiting for the image of the guitar sticking out of the sand to appear, but I think I missed it. Must have turned away from the TV at the wrong time... a good party all round really...
