Hey, I think I've got it. Why don't I lazily wander down from Bangkok (or even Chiang Mai) to Singapore by train, stopping for a few days here and there along the way? Advice is most welcome.
(I could do this, but I don't think I'd manage to fit the dress code.)

That sounds very cool.
Hmmm... now that there's a train to Darwin (with passenger services too), I wonder how much of the journey between Melbourne and Bangkok could be made by rail. Just a thought.
(Maybe it's time for a Timor Gap rail tunnel?)

See http://www.spectrumholidays.com.au/RailHolidays.htm for the "Melbourne to London" rail tour, contingent upon the Adelaide/Darwin train opening (passenger services start in February, so...). I'm not real sure I want to spend all my time on a train, though, for this particular holiday.

The train thing sounds pretty cool.. you should do something like that. It'll give you lots of time to do nothing untill you disembark somewhere ;P
