junk man

Goths everywhere are probably cringing at the thought of the Cowboy Junkies covering a track by the The Cure, but it's happened. There's a limited edition bonus disc with their new album, full of covers of the kind of artists you'd expect them to cover (Bruce Springsteen, Townes van Zandt, Neil Young etc.) but they've also covered Seventeen Seconds. I caught it last night on 3RRR and it seems to have been subsumed into Their Sound quite nicely.

Meanwhile, Alex went to see them in Frankfurt.

np: Chatterton from the album Intoxicated Man by Mick Harvey (I know, I know, it's cheating hearing Gainsbourg songs in English, but it's my guilty little pleasure, ok?).
