Jive Messenger 2.1 is finally out - the major win for my workplace is that it provides shared roster group support. It also provides a nice web interface so I can get other people to start looking after it (I'm not really into that kind of "job security" - I'd rather not be a single point of failure). As such, I've finally ditched jabberd 2 for it. No hard feelings, really - if I'd had time to make jabberd 2 work with something other than Berkeley DB, we would've been ok (though I dunno if there's any fixed roster stuff for jabberd 2 yet), but running MySQL just wasn't an option for us (as far as unix servers go we're a DB2 house, for better or worse).

I may not (so far) run the kind of blog that posts social conscience linkage - other friends seem to have it covered better than I could manage (yes, I'm aware that's no excuse), but this doesn't mean that I don't care about the State of ThingsTM.
