...not only does Penang Affair on Brunswick St in Fitzroy do great Malaysian food, they've also expanded their range of beers. I was very pleasantly surprised to see the fabled (or so it was in my research when I was thinking about dropping into Laos earlier this year) Beerlao on the list, so I had a few. I don't seem to have a good vocabulary for describing drinks in general, so here's hoping someone like David gives it a whirl some time (though I fear perhaps it'll be a bit too "ordinary" for him?). But I enjoyed it, anyway, and look forward to having a few more sometime. Hopefully on the banks of the Mekong, even.

I may not (so far) run the kind of blog that posts social conscience linkage - other friends seem to have it covered better than I could manage (yes, I'm aware that's no excuse), but this doesn't mean that I don't care about the State of ThingsTM.

Mmm, I love Penang Affair, nice food and friendly staff. Beerlao doesn't show up on any of the big beer websites, and is a rice beer, apparently, so it definitely sounds interesting. I'll have to check it out! I'll also ask my wife if she's ever had any - she loves Laos and Vietnam.
