The Immediatists brought us about 2 hours of improvised music which I really quite enjoyed - some (most) moments worked better than (a few) others but that's how it is in improv-land. There were certainly plenty of good bits where, say, a bassline might lock in with the drums while the violin wept overhead, leaving the guitar to wander off into space and return with a few odd sounds. Their next gig is on the 18th at the Rob Roy, around 6:15pm - get yerself along. There's plenty of listening material on their myspace page (scroll down, there's more than the 4 tracks up top).

I may not (so far) run the kind of blog that posts social conscience linkage - other friends seem to have it covered better than I could manage (yes, I'm aware that's no excuse), but this doesn't mean that I don't care about the State of ThingsTM.

Walked right past the front door (drunk) about 9:45pm with some workmates and I knew you'd be inside, but I wasn't going to try some convincing. We ended up at a pizza pasta place across the road and listed to various bands from out on the street. Oh well - next time.

Yeah, I must admit to spending plenty of time watching people passing by trying to make sense of the music (especially during some of the less conventional moments).

That was an interesting gig. Scarlette is very badly set up for a band, having the players basically facing a brick wall while the majority of the audience sits to the right. So bad sound quality would be a problem.
Anyway, the gig itself was very enjoyable.
Thanks for taking the photos Andrew, we were very impressed with your work.
