loki bar, north melbourne

The first time I came into this place I heard some music that was stylistically familiar, but I just couldn't pick it (it turned out to be The Jazz Butcher).

The second time I came into this place, I heard some music that was stylistically familiar, but I just couldn't pick it (it turned out to be The Waifs).

So anyway, the Loki Bar's a nice, dark, cosy place to have a couple of drinks somewhere not too far from home. He plays nice music, and it's never been particularly busy the times I've been there, which is good (though I hope this doesn't mean it'll vanish without a trace anytime soon). You'll find it on Peel St, just opposite Vic Market. Games nights on Wednesdays, apparently (anyone for a game of Risk? I just know I'll lose...).

Oh, and I bought a new domain. I'll do something "useful" with it when I can make my mind up about what software I want to manage it with (old faithful, textpattern, wordpress or blosxom. or something).

Jazz Butcher eh?

Got me thinking I haven't seen my copy of "The Cult of the Basement" in years. Took me a while but I found it eventually & gave it a listen. Great CD. Great songs - including the one that got me into them in the first place - "Girl Go".

Never played Risk. Played Diplomacy once by email. After 1 year or so, I was one of the last 4 powers when the server (in Serbia or somewhere) died & the Game Master didn't have backups or any way to restart. All those smarmy letters & treacherous schemes gone to waste. It was one of the worst days of my life when I found out. Oh well.
