Via Steve, Gaslight Records has closed down (with a quote from Chuck Jenkins, who had a day job there). I hadn't been in there for ages, and I hadn't bought anything for a lot longer - as Chuck alludes to, I think it all went downhill once ChaosMusic bought them - they started having fairly random, but very expensive stock ($50 for the double-CD of The Scud Mountain Boys' Pine Box / Dance the night away being one aberration I'll never forget - I ordered it from overseas instead).
...so, when's somebody going to open a music shop in Northcote (Cash Convertors doesn't count!)?

I may not (so far) run the kind of blog that posts social conscience linkage - other friends seem to have it covered better than I could manage (yes, I'm aware that's no excuse), but this doesn't mean that I don't care about the State of ThingsTM.

Sad to hear it's gone, though not entirely unexpected. When I last visited Melbourne, I picked up the new Laura album there.
